Family Preservation and Kinship Care Cost and Benefit Analysis

Commissioned by Ecotone Analytics, this analysis estimated the total costs and benefits associated with three child welfare scenarios and accounted for four stages of engagement with the child welfare system for each of the three scenarios.

When comparing placement in kin care vs. non-kin care there is, on average, a reduction in social costs incurred of approximately $25,000 (in present value).
